Install the add-on
- Download the latest Eclipse-Blender-x.y.z.zip from the GitHub releases page. Keep it zipped.
- In Blender, open Edit → Preferences → Add-ons and install from disk, choosing the zip.
- Enable Eclipse (category Import-Export).
- In the 3D Viewport, press N and open the Eclipse tab in the sidebar.
The official tutorial walks through installing at 10:25.
What is in the Eclipse tab
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start Server / Stop Server | Opens the link that Eclipse connects to when you use Blender Import in an open Eclipse file. |
| Send Animation to Eclipse | Samples your paired output rigs and cameras at the Eclipse file’s frame rate and sends them over. Appears once a session is connected. |
| Import Rig (.obj) | Imports geometry, bone hierarchy, attachments and materials that Eclipse exported. |
| Add Camera Rig | Adds the supplied camera rig, including its scale-driven field of view. |
| Export Armature (.json) | In the Eclipse Armature panel. Exports the selected armature with its control dependencies, bind transforms and bone visuals. Set Studs per Unit first (default 1.0). |
Bring a Blender rig into Roblox
- Select the armature in Blender.
- In Eclipse Armature, set Studs per Unit to match your scene scale.
- Click Export Armature (.json) and save the file.
- In Eclipse in Roblox Studio, import the armature. See 11:07 in the official tutorial.
Send animations between Blender and Eclipse
- Open your animation file in Eclipse in Roblox Studio.
- In Blender, click Start Server. The panel reads “Open a file in Eclipse, then Blender Import.”
- In Eclipse, use Blender Import. Blender then shows the paired objects and the direction, either Blender → Eclipse or Eclipse → Blender, plus Live or Paused.
- To push your Blender animation across, click Send Animation to Eclipse.
Custom output rigs need to be paired in Eclipse first. The add-on reminds you: “Pair existing custom output rigs in Eclipse.”
If Blender shows “Another Eclipse armature exporter is registered,” disable the older standalone exporter add-on and enable Eclipse again.
